About Us

Our Minister

Reverend Marguerite Matthews is a second career pastor. After over 16 years of professional service in Christian Education, Church Administration and ministry with Senior Adults, she said, "God wouldn’t leave me alone." In 1999 she began her quest for ordained ministry. The Old Testament prophet Joel proclaimed "…I am the Lord your God…I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and your daughters will prophesy." As a native of Jacksonville and having grown up in North Jacksonville, our pastor feels a specific calling to "prophesy" to God’s love and to see God’s means of grace offered to all people--most specifically in Oceanway. Meeting individuals at their felt need and offering Christ’s transforming power will be the focus of her ministry. That focus will be directed toward building Christian community within small groups in homes and businesses throughout Oceanway. She believes that the transforming power of God’s harmony in Christian fellowship will bring God’s mosaic of people in Oceanway together in unity. In creating the church that God wants in this area of city, look for our pastor walking out in your community to listen to your needs and truly seeking only God’s agenda in responding to the community’s desires, hopes and dreams.

Our Church

"…and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it." (Matthew 16:18)

Our church has no brick and mortar, just relational groups gathering in Christian fellowship in homes, schools and businesses in the Oceanway area.   Look for signs on New Berlin Road about our Sunday morning gathering for praise and worship at 10:00 A.M. in our temporary facilities at New Berlin Elementary School.  Nursery care is available.  Workers with children and youth have gone through the United Methodist Children/Youth Protection Training as well as background screening.  In both weekday relational groups and in praise and worship, our goal at Harmony is to reflect in every aspect of our ministry the living and unified Body of Christ.

The core values of Harmony Church will be the building blocks to our Vision and Mission core values.
